The ' Other' Side

Geen reacties

The following sentences are stuck in my mind:

"Mind the curb!"

"Mind the parked cars on your left!"

"Remember, the white line in the middle of the road is your friend"

Driving on "the other side" (whatever side that may be) was a completely new experience... especially if you suddenly got a lot of extra car on your left. Luckily all went well and i'm definitely up for doing it again, but unfortunately the car ain't...

Distraction from studies

Geen reacties

Suddenly the .... thing stopped working... Maybe it didn't want to go back to work after the holidays as well, or maybe it just wanted to be a pain in the ass, or maybe i've done something to it (and i can't remember), or maybe it's just me (making sure i'm not going to distract myself too much, but then, i've spent the last 2 days trying to repair the bl**dy thing. So i'm very happy coz it seems as if i've found a solution *hooray* Suddenly you notice how important your keyboard actually is! So now, for the time being, i'm just going to keep my fingers crossed (not whilst typing of course)...

Salsa bar Tips

Geen reacties

Yesterday i managed to find the best preparation for going out dancing in a Salsa bar: have a meal at 'Garlic & Shots'. Unless the person that's trying to hit on you has a very blocked, blocked nose nobody will try to chat you up or try even more. The only disadvantage of this strategy might be that probably nobody wants to dance with you... So my best advise is to go to this restaurant with a friend whose going to dance with you all eve! (maybe just bribe him into it: "i take you out, but you'll have to dance with me" Not many people will decline that offer (unless they don't like garlic) *grin*)

Adam

Vier reacties

From a herbalist's point of view, there's one thing (well probably lots more actually) i don't understand with regards to paintings/drawings of Adam... Why is he depicted with fig leaves? I mean, considering the therapeutic effects of the leaves... For example Mrs Grieve writes about Ficus Carica:

"The milky juice of the freshly-broken stalk of a Fig has been found to remove warts on the body. When applied, a slightly inflamed area appears round the wart, which then shrivels and falls off. The milky juice of the stems and leaves is very acrid and has been used in some countries for raising blisters."

Must have been very painful!!! And i def don't want to think any further...
