Bathrobe

Tuesday 09 January 2007 at 12:10 pm. It wasn't his, and it showed. The blue secondhanded bathrobe just didn't suit him. The fact that it was a size too small didn't help. Although he did look a lot sexier in it than my ex, who used to wear it.

So I made him a new one... what do you think?

Technotalk: the pattern is from an old Knipmode (12-2003). The fabric is a thin grey striped cotton with a big fleur-de-lis like print, found on the market for just 1 euro/metre. Before cutting, I washed and tumble dryed the cotton to make sure the finished product wouldn't shrink. Sadly, the water didn't only reduce the fabric but also the print. (Hence the 1 euro/metre...) So it took me a bit more time than usually to cut around the worst faded parts. (Luckly I bought twice the amount of fabric needed...) Together with half a day of sewing, several hours cursing the shawl collar and some ironing, this resulted in a classy, comfy bathrobe.

The bathrobe was supposed to be a birthday present (three months ago), but instead it was finished just in time for a relaxing day at the sauna. He made quite an impression, wearing nothing his new bathrobe.
