Blown away
Friday 19 January 2007 at 3:12 pm. Question: what would you do if there were gusts of wind with the power of a hurricane? Stay in like the goverment suggested? Spend the night at the train station? Skip class before a crane comes plungering in through the roof? Or would you go out and buy yourself some tampons? To make a long story short: the 100 metre walk proved to be a visitation. Sand and small stones were blown in our faces with a staggering (and painful) 100 km/h. Gusts of wind swept me of my feet twice, but fortunately he catched me. With his help, and the help of some lamp-posts I made it to the shopping mall. The thought of returning to the car already started to trouble me. And I turned out be to correct... in the time we spend at the shopping mall, the storm had grown in intensity. I tried to walk but my legs just wouldn't carry me in the direction I wanted to go. The first gust of wind blew me against a traffic light, and I grasped it like my life depended on it. I couldn't bring myself to try to cross the street, it just wasn't were my legs wanted to go. So I stayed put while he ran to the car... I felt so useless and a bit stupid too. But at least I made a traffic light very happy with a long and intimate hug...
The wind huffed and puffed and blew down...me, an old man, trees, cars, motor-trucks, a crane, cyclists, debris, windows and some other things.
