Daily work

Wednesday 21 February 2007 at 09:24 am "Your life events are my daily work. So if I don't smile at you in the grocery store, please do not hold a grudge against me... it probably wasn't a good day at work." Lees verder

The black thing

Tuesday 20 February 2007 at 10:16 am One of the projects I finished last-weekend, is a black pair of trousers. Technically, I'm good at sowing and a pair of pants is no challenge... but they never seem to fit me. But then again, I do not easily find a pair of fitting jeans in a store. So the problem seems to be my body and not my sowing. (That's not reassuring.) Lees verder

Finito!!!

Monday 19 February 2007 at 7:57 pm Remember the dress i didn't finish last weekend??? Well, it's almost finished now! Additionally, part 1 (pair of trousers) of my 'punk-style' suit is also done! And all because he told me i wouldn't be able to finish the dress before Easter... It's soooo nice when people know how to 'activate' you, isn't it? Pictures will follow as soon as i can put my hands on a digi-cam :-)

White coat syndrome

Wednesday 14 February 2007 at 7:44 pm After half-a-year of not wearing one, i had to put on a white coat again. This time not as a herbalist, but as a 'trainee doctor'. Must admit that after getting my degree as a herbalist i've never worn the white coat again, so it feels a bit weird wearing it again. Lees verder

Another go...

Tuesday 13 February 2007 at 12:21 pm My previous attempt at knitting resulted in a beautiful purple shawl which my mom made. So when I started to knit a brown beanie, my mom (naturally) was a bit sceptical. But... after six days of intense labour... it's done! And it fits! Finally I can throw those damn DPNs out of the window. How DO you knit evenly with DPNs?

Let me guess... it's just like learning how to knit, just preservere...

Jam

Tuesday 13 February 2007 at 09:26 am Traffic jams are normally just a bit irritating. But when you're stuck in a completely stacked bus together with three loud giggling sixteen year old girls... it's a complete nightmare.

Discoveries

Monday 12 February 2007 at 06:54 am After a busy week we decided to relax this weekend... It turned out to be a weekend full of new things to discover, so here's the list: (this weekend the theme seemed to be lists and garlic) Lees verder

Recipe

Sunday 11 February 2007 at 7:53 pm First of all, she killed the chicken by hitting it repeatedly with a chopping board. After making sure there was no more than five mls left, we stuffed it with frozen spinach… which I creatively chopped. This was followed by piercing what was left of the bird with small wooden stakes. We cooked it, fried it and grilled it; and checked if it was thoroughly heated (we don’t want salmonella now, do we?) Served with a garlic-mustard-chicken stock- lemon juice and some pips-and-left over spinach-sauce and some physically abused beetroots, we’ve had a very interesting meal.

WIP

Sunday 11 February 2007 at 7:28 pm The weekend was supposed to be the time when i would finish my Xmas, B-day, Easter-dress. But since i didn't feel like doing anything it took me a long time (Sunday eve) to start working on this 'project'. It still ain't finished though... but hey, we've made some progress (and Easter is still far away, isn't it?)

Btw, pictures will -hopefully- follow soonish...

Holiday-proof

Saturday 10 February 2007 at 12:19 pm Sowing is great fun, but not the most practical craft one can choose. Indeed, you can make clothes exactly the way you want in exactly the size you need. But you can’t take it with you… ever seen someone sowing in the bus? Or carrying an overlocker and a tent? And while boarding a plane, you can’t take a pair scissors in your hand luggage… (or in your shoe.) Lees verder
