A day at work (50)
Friday 11 September 2009 at 7:36 pm"Doctor please listen, will you listen? The doctors in the hospital didn't want to listen to me, I told so many, nobody cared... I want to be put to sleep."
QuaintR is all about two young healthcare professionals on their bumpy way to find the road to balance, happiness and nice recipes in life. This blog is a way of sharing their everyday adventures.
Queck Curious. Strong headed. Bubbly. Passionate. Creative. Medical Doctor. Still a bit diffident.
Roosje Medical Herbalist. Huggable. Floaty. Enthusiastic. Creative. Energetic. Stubborn. Medical student."Doctor please listen, will you listen? The doctors in the hospital didn't want to listen to me, I told so many, nobody cared... I want to be put to sleep."
"Most men think it is."
(How I missed the nursing home, I love it to be back!)
Calls [random herbal-product-making-company]:
"Could you tell me why you put [random herb] in [random formula]? Cos actually there aren't a lot of trials around that investigate [random herb] but there are a fair few considering [other random herb] which seems to have a similar effect."
4 hours later:
"Well, we put it in because we think it's good."
"Perhaps you've got some information of trials for me, cos i don't seem to be able to locate this information."
"Well, we haven't got information on trials done with [random herb], but we just think it's good."
You might be able to imagen that after a few more questions (mainly about registration of side effects of [random formula] - no registration), and after putting down the phone i was slightly fuming...
Not joking... 3rd day on the Cardiovascular A&E, and i was the person in charge... *oops* Thought it was a nice joke when no patients showed up in the morning. Unfortunately 10 of them decided to come in the afternoon... I managed, but it was a long, long day
"What exactly is my responsibility as acting MD?"
"Just make sure they're still warm when you deliver them to their regular MD."
"Oh."
Today I had a pretty good day. We laughed a lot. I didn't feel completely stupid. Even did some usefull things and learned something.
What changed you might ask? Don't know precizely. Don't know if it's just one day or a more permanent effect. I do know I came prepared today... brought pieces of labadorite, citrine and jasper... and the fact I re-read some books in the weekend might helped.
